General Information
Hello and welcome to the Mountaineer's online edition. Throughout the course of the year, we'll be making weekly updates in order to keep the Mt. SAC student body up to date with campus events when the newspaper cannot. In the spring semester we are also premeiring our "Mountiewire" site which is a companion to our main website and will include podcasts, features and other interactive content.
Originally, the Mt. SAC Mountaineer was created as a voice of the students. In order to maintain that objective during this fast-paced time, it is vital that the newspaper stay as up to date as possible. Breaking stories that directly affect the events happening around campus and off-campus usually occur too suddenly to go into a print edition. For this reason, the Mountaineer brings you its online counterpart, picking up where the paper leaves off.
Online activities coupled with exclusive features provide the website with an insight to their home away from home.
For the student to gain the most from the Mountaineer, the newspaper and the website need to go hand in hand. Some articles that appear on Themountaineeronline.com will never go to press, while some articles featured in the paper won't make it to the online version. Therefore, in order to remain as informed as possible, the two mediums would serve the alumni better if used simultaneously.
All in all, both the newspaper and its online extension are here to provide for the needs of the Mt. SAC student, to provide them an arena in which to voice their opinions, and an opportunity for them to become better acquainted with the world around them.
